TAP

So, as WineGirl mentioned, we were in Atlanta last weekend, where she did a Very Good Thing. Of course, her exertions left her famished, so thanks to OpenTable, we found a delightful restaurant — literally right around the corner.

And when I tell you that the name of the place is TAP, the following should come as no surprise. The beer menu was longer than the food menu. Draft beer, bottled beer, and Reserve Beer (Oh My!)

Yes, that does say $15 to $30 for a single bottle — not for two cases of the usual sweet, under-hopped American lager. I’ll have to work my way up to the Reserve List (one must have a goal!), but we did start well enough.

After a brief hiccup regarding ID’s (Yes, WineGirl does look that young!), we settled into our first snifters of Belgian ale. She chose the La Chouffe (on tap, natch) and I picked the Delirium tremens. And I was deliriously happy. I’ve been hearing about Delirium often of late, and I’d been itching to try it.

This beer deserves it’s own post, but perhaps a picture of this deliriously happy drinker will suffice for now …

We then ordered some supper — I had a tasty trio of tacos, and the Wine Girl chose tomato bisque and a grilled cheese sandwich with cheeses from the Cowgirl Creamery (astute readers may remember that WG loved the Cowgirl Creamery during our wine country road trip).

Alas, my hopes of drinking every beer on the menu were thwarted (and my liver saved), when Wine Girl started to lose steam. Which is to be expected, of course, after one has walked 60 miles in 3 days — but when you see this face, you know that what’s on tap now is bedtime!

Next time in Atlanta, do yourself a favor and hurry over to TAP in Midtown.
We’ll be back soon to sample the Reserve list!
